Evan tried not to fidget as he waited for Lyric to come down from the bedroom. He’d never actually stood in his parents’ foyer waiting for anyone before. It was kind of surreal but very cool.

And nerve wracking.

Elliott stood next to him. They were dressed similarly in slacks and dress shirts. They’d both picked ties that had olive in them to match Lyric’s hazel eyes. Sometimes they couldn’t help how alike they were.

“You guys look so handsome,” Callie said. “I’m so glad you found your truemate. Lyric is a sweetheart.”

“She is,” Elliott said. “We’re really glad to have found her too.”

Eryx snorted with a chuckle. “I’ll bet.”

The bedroom door opened and Fi walked out first, hurrying down the stairs. “I love her,” Fi whispered as she passed by them to stand with her parents.

Evan was right there too. The flood of emotions at truemates meeting was like love at first sight. It was strong and powerful, and really hard to ignore. Every moment he spent with Lyric just solidified their mating in his mind and strengthened his feelings toward her. He was half in love with her already and they’d only known each other for a day.

How much sweeter would their relationship be after they were mated and living together?

Lyric appeared in the doorway, a vision in a sexy dress that showed off her lightly tanned legs and hugged her curves.

Curves he very much wanted to map with his fingers and tongue.

Later, he reminded himself, trying to keep his libido in check.

She graced them with a sweet smile as she walked down the stairs, a small black purse in one hand.

“You look amazing,” Evan said as he kissed her cheek.

“Stunning,” Elliott said, kissing her other cheek.

“You guys...your ties match!” she said. “Very handsome. I’m one lucky she-wolf.”

“It was an accident,” Evan said, looking at his tie. “We both picked a tie with the same shade of green as your eyes.”

“We didn’t even know we had both bought the same ties,” Elliott said.

“Twins,” Callie said. “I’d say you get used to them being oddballs sometimes, but you don’t.”

“Hey,” Eryx said. “Only one twin is an oddball and since Ethan is at work and not here to defend himself, I’m going to say it’s him.”

Evan laughed. “Ready for our date?” He offered his arm to Lyric and she took it.

“I am. Thanks for today, Fi, I had a great time.”

“I always wanted a sister,” Fi said. “It’s so cool to have one.”

“I feel the same way.”

Elliott grabbed the door as their family wished them well. Evan escorted her outside to his truck which had a bench seat so they could all sit together.

When she was seated in the middle with him and Elliott on either side, Evan turned on the engine and backed away from the house.

“Did you have fun today with Fi?” he asked.

“I did. She’s so sweet.”

“She is. She can be ornery, too. Mom said it’s the she-wolf in her,” Evan said.

“I believe it. All she-wolves are a little ornery, including me.
